Unlocking Captive WiFi with Your Aerohive Access Point 🚀

Getting Started:

  1. Dive In: First things first, log into your Aerohive HiveManager Select account. Make sure your gadget's running the latest firmware for a smooth adventure.
  2. Info: You'll need a RADIUS password and a Custom URL—think of them as your secret keys from the support team. Drop us a line via chat, or email (support@captivewifi.io)

Setting Up Your Network:

  • Policy: Head to "Configure" and hit “ADD NETWORK POLICY”. Pick your device type, name your network policy, and click SAVE.

  • Wireless: Click on the “Wireless Networks” tab, press Add, and select “All other Networks (standard)”. Choose “Open (unsecured)” and activate “Enable Captive Web Portal” and “User Auth on Captive Web Portal”.

  • Portal: Under “Choose Authentication Type:”, opt for “Redirect to External URL for Authentication”. Here’s where you input your captive portal settings. Click ADD next to “Default Captive Web Portal” :

    • Portal Name: Give your portal a name and set the Login URL to: https://getonline.captivewifi.io/guest/<SITE ID>.
      This is found under Integrations and WiFi Hardware.
    • Secret: Password Encryption: UAM Basic, Authentication Method: PAP
  • Walled Garden: In the Walled Garden, list the URLs below (you can separate multiple URLs with commas).

    • getonline.captivewifi.io, kit.fontawesome.com, captivewifi.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com
  • RADIUS: Add a “Default RADIUS Server Group” under Authentication Settings. Create a “New External RADIUS Server”, name it, and set up an IP object for the RADIUS server IP. Enter the secret password from Captive WiFi here.

Final Touches:

  1. Time: Jump to the Device Templates tab, add your device model, and proceed without tweaking the Additional Settings.

  2. Deploy: Select your device and UPLOAD the policy. Once updated, go to Monitor, find your device, and in the Host Name field, enter your CUSTOM ID.

  3. Last Part: Hit SAVE and then UPDATE NOW. You've successfully configured your Aerohive Access Point.
