Cambium Captive Portal setup for Captive WiFi

 

Before You Start

Make sure you have the following ready:

  • Access to the Cambium cnMaestro dashboard or local device web UI

  • Your Cambium AP(s) powered on and adopted

  • External portal URL: https://getonline.captivewifi.io/guest/ (site id)

  • Connected URL (found on Splash Design > Connected Page


Configuration Steps (cnMaestro Cloud)

  1. Login to cnMaestro

    • Open your browser and log in to the Cambium cnMaestro cloud platform.

    • Go to the Configuration tab.

  2. Navigate to WiFi Profile

    • Under the Configuration tab, go to WiFi Profile.

    • Select or create a profile that includes the SSID to be used for guest access.

  3. SSID Configuration

    • In the selected WiFi profile, go to the WLAN section.

    • Select or create the SSID.

    • Set the SSID Name (e.g., GuestWiFi).

    • Set Security to Open (no encryption).

  4. Add External RADIUS Server

    • Server IP Address (provided by Captive WiFi)

    • Authentication Port (default: 1812)

    • Shared Secret (from Captive WiFi)

    • Navigate to Configuration > AAA Servers.

    • Add a new AAA server:

 

  1. Configure Guest Access

    • Go to Configuration > Guest Access.

    • Enable Guest Access.

    • Set Guest Access Type to External Hotspot.

    • Set Access Policy to RADIUS.

    • Set AP Server Protocol to HTTP.

    • In the External Page URL, enter: (please find the site id from the WIFI Hardware page)
      https://getonline.captivewifi.io/guest/<site id>

    • Redirect to external page, to find this please click Connected Page and use this URL

  1. Walled Garden / Allow List

    • getonline.captivewifi.io

    • captivewifi.fra1.digitaloceanspaces.com

    • 138.68.152.191

    • Navigate to Pre-Login Allowed Domains

    • Add the following domains and IP address to the Allow List (also known as Walled Garden):

  2. Save and Apply Configuration

    • Save the configuration profile.

    • Push or apply the settings to the relevant access points.

  3. Test the Captive Portal

    • Connect a client device to the configured SSID.

    • Ensure the captive portal splash page appears and allows authentication.
